“ AN INVITATION TO PAY DUE TRIBUTE OF FAITH AND WORSHIP TO THE THIRD PERSON OF THE HOLY TRINITY ”

 THE HOLY SPIRIT

Jesus, the Apostles, and the Church along the years, have talked so much about the power of the Holy Spirit and its importance in our spiritual life THE HOLY SPIRIT

But it was in the reign of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, that the need for the faithful to have more knowledge about the third person of the Holy Trinity was so much felt . In May 1897, the Church gave a special invitation to direct the highest homage of our love and devotion towards THE HOLY SPIRIT and instituted a special NOVENA, a collection of special Prayers and supported it with an abundance of Spiritual Indulgences.
This devotion to the HOLY SPIRIT was again reinforced by H.H. Pope Paul VI at the recitation of the REGINA COELI on Sunday 22nd May 1977.
We are offering the “ Novena to the Holy Spirit” written in 1912 by the Holy Spirit Fathers, to you, the faithfuls whom Almighty God has inspired to be among our prayful readers.
Dear Friends, I urge you all to take advantage of such a beneficial prayer to the Holy Spirit to get closer to your Creator, Almighty God.

DAY ONE:

O Lord Jesus Christ ! Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul the work of Your grace and Your love.

 

DAY TWO:

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples,

deign to GRANT ME THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM THAT I MAY DESPISE THE PERISHABLE THINGS OF THIS WORLD AND ASPIRE ONLY AFTER THE THINGS THAT ARE ETERNAL.

DAY THREE:

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples,

deign to grant me THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING TO ENLIGHTEN MY MIND WITH THE LIGHT OF YOUR DIVINE TRUTH

DAY FOUR:

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples,

deign to grant THE SPIRIT OF COUNSEL THAT I MAY EVER CHOOSE THE SUREST WAY OF PLEASING GOD AND GAINING HEAVEN

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY FIVE:

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples ,

deign to grant THE SPIRIT OF FORTITUDE THAT I MAY BEAR MY CROSS WITH YOU AND THAT I MAY OVERCOME WITH COURAGE ALL THE OBSTACLES THAT OPPOSE MY SALVATION.

 

DAY EIGHT

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant me THE SPIRIT OF FEAR THAT I MAY BE FILLED WITH A LOVING REVERENCE TOWARDS GOD AND MAY DREAD IN ANY WAY TO DISPLEASE HIM.
The resolution of our prayer today, the eve of the great Solemnity of Pentecost, is to await the coming of the Paraclete, closely united to Our Mother by Her prayers, imploring the gift of the Holy Spirit who have already overshadowed Her into the “Annunciation”, changing Her into the new “Tabernacle of God”. May we, by Her most powerful intercession obtained for the newborn Church, be granted with the prodigious outpouring of that Spirit of the Divine Redeemer who had already been given on the Cross. DAY NINE

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, MARK ME, DEAR LORD, WITH THE SIGN OF YOUR TRUE DISCIPLES AND ANIMATE ME IN ALL THINGS WITH YOUR SPIRIT. AMEN
