The body of Jesus is taken down from the Cross

openingWe adore You O Christ and we praise You (Genuflex)

R: Because by your holy Cross You have redeemed the world

A reading from  the holy  Gospel  according  to  Luk e: (23:47-52).

When the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent.” And when all the crowds, who had gathered there for this spectacle saw what had taken place, they returned home beating their breasts. But all his acquaintances, including the women who had followed him, from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.  Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph, who, though a member of the council, had not agreed to their plan and action. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea, and he was waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God.

This man went to Pilate and asked him the body of  Jesus.  Then he took it down.

Reflection

Surely, Mary, mother of Jesus and mother of us all, when she held her son’s dead body in her arms, had compassion not only for her son who underwent such a passion for mankind but also for those sinners for whom her son ‘s sufferings meant nothing and were going to be lost for ever.

Silence…..Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Let us pray

O  Mother  of  pity  and  loving  kindness,  most  blessed  Virgin  Mary, who  stood by  your  son  when  he  hung  upon  the  cross  and  received  him  into  your  arms when  he  was taken  down, stand  by  me  in  my  temptations, if I fall receive me in your arms, and  obtain  for me  forgiveness of my sins.  Amen .

  •  O my Jesus,  forgive us our sins, preserve  us  from the  fire of Hell, lead all  souls to Heaven,  especially those in need of Thy mercy.
  •  My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and l love You.  I beg pardon for those who do not Believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love youclosing
