The Resurrection of Jesus

openingWe adore You O Christ and we praise You (Genuflex)

R: Because by your holy Cross You have redeemed the world

A reading  from  the holy Gospel  accordi ng to  Matthew: (28 :I -7).

After  the  sabbath, as  the  first day  of  the  week  was drawing,  Mary  Magdalene and the other Mary,  went to see  the tomb.    And  suddenly  there  was  a  great earthquake;  for an  angel  of the Lord, descending from  heaven, came and rolled back  the stone and  sat on  it. His appearance  was  like  lightning, and  his clothing  white  as  snow.    For  fear  of  him  the  guards  shook  and  became  like dead  men .  But  the angel  said  to the women,  “Do not be afraid;  I know  that you arelooking  for Jesus  who  was  crucified.   He is  not  here; for  he has been raised, as he said’.”Come, see where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, he has been raised from the dead.”

Reflection

Jesus, who is  the source of  life, the  beginning of brightness,  the  author  of  life, said of himself,  “I am the day: he  who  walks by daylight does not  stumble.” That  is to  say, if a  man  follows  Christ  in  all  things,  he  will  follow  in  Christ’s steps to  the  very  throne  of  eternal  light.   While  Christ  was  still  in  this  bodily life,  He  prayed  to  the  Father  for us  in  these  words:  Father,  I desire  that  those who  have believed  in  me  may  be  with  me  where I am,  that even as you  are  in me, and I in  you, so  they  too  may  remain in  us.”   These  encouraging  words should  strengthen  our  faith  and  belief  that,  one  day,  we  too, will  rise  again  to have  our  eternal  reward  if  we  follow  the  way  our  redeemer, Jesus  Christ  has opened  for us.

Silence…..Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Let us pray

Jesus Christ, Author of life, Light that drives out darkness and draws men to holiness, God raised you from the dead.  You will raise me to life by Your own power, grant that I may die with You and come to life with You, so that I shall see Your face and share in Your splendour in Heaven for ever and ever. AMEN
